Crewe keeper Jason Kearton is set to return home to Australia, or possibly New Zealand, to play in the NSL.

In J-League action on Socceroo Steve Corica was replaced in the 75th minute, as Sanfreece Hiroshima won 6-2 away to Cerezo Osaka.

In Singapore's top flight, Hrvoje Matkovic was replaced in the 91st minute, as Home United won 3-0 away to Gombak United.

Nebojsa Vukosavljevic, Brian Bothwell and Alex Duric all played full games with Bothwell and Duric scoring goals in the 3rd and 15th minutes respectively, as Geylang United won 2-1 at home against Jurong FC.

Hamilton Thorp played a full game (debut) and scored the only goal in the 48th minute, as Tanjong Pagar United beat Balestier Central FC 1-0 at home. For Balestier, Josip Kozic and Darren Stewart played full games.

Grant Barlow (gk) played a full game and was named man-of-the-match, as Clementi Khalsa drew 0-0 at home with Tampine Rovers.

Socceroo Tony Popovic?s move to English 1st Division club Crystal Palace has hit a snag after his request for a work permit was turned down, although Palace is set to appeal the decision at a tribunal hearing this week that has meant his withdrawal from the LG Socceroos squad to face Japan.

LG Socceroo Mark Robertson missed Dundee?s 1-0 win over Livingston on the weekend, so he could join his fellow Australian teammates for Wednesday?s match against Japan.

Lee Howells missed Cheltenham Town?s opening game of the season against Leyton Orient, due to a suspension that carried over from the end of last season.

Leeds United?s Australian contingent featured heavily in two midweek matches, with three finding the scoresheet. Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka both scored in the 5-0 win against Preston, with Kewell said to be outstanding in the win, while LG Socceroo Jacob Burns scored in the 4-0 win over York City, which also featured goalkeeper Danny Milosevic (gk) and young defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff.

Socceroo captain Paul Okon has recovered from injury and made his first appearances in pre-season friendlies over the weekend, playing in two games on a short tour of Holland.

Goalkeeper Clint Davies played a full game for Birmingham City's reserves who defeated Hednesford Town (07/08) 3-1 mid-week. The teenager pulling off several fine saves in the second half to keep his side ahead.

Richard Garcia is back into the swing of things at West Ham United, playing a full 90 minutes of the clubs 3-1 victory over Rushden and Diamonds with Garcia giving "an eye-catching performance in the centre of midfield" according to the official West Ham website.

Charlton Athletic?s Jordan Rhodes has begun pre-season training, which included a match against a visiting NSW team, won 6-0 by Charlton.
