The on-loan Socceroos gloveman might be unwanted by parent club Brighton, where he has a year left on his contract.
But his three Premier League performances since arriving in January have given Mikel Arteta plenty to ponder, as he looks to provide serious competition to nominal first choice Bernd Leno.
While Arsenal are clearly in the box seat to conclude a permanent deal, Ryan’s representative, former Danish international Mikkel Beck, believes the 29-year-old will have multiple options looking ahead to next season.
“This is a key moment and a very important time for Maty in doing so well at a big club like Arsenal,” said Beck.
“The (northern) summer is looking super interesting for us.
“Arsenal is an option and I’m pretty sure there will be others - so the summer is looking bright.
“Let’s see what Arsenal decide to do about that but for sure there will be others out there looking to contact us. I strongly believe so.
“We will prepare and make sure we find the right solution.”
Looking equally bright are Ryan’s prospects of fending off the national team challenge posed by J1 League clean sheets specialist Mitch Langerak heading into Australia’s FIFA World Cup hub in Kuwait at the end of this month.
The likes of Mark Schwarzer have urged coach Graham Arnold to reward Langerak due his record breaking feats with Nagoya Grampus - nine shutouts this season to add to last year’s 17.
But indications are that in the Middle East - where Australia play four games in 16 days - both may be used.
“I’m not here to judge what others think but certainly in my mind there is only number one for Australia, and that’s Maty,” added Beck.
“The Socceroos and the people in Australia should be very proud of Maty playing for such a big club with a great history.”
Ryan, whose affiliation with Arsenal stretches back to his childhood, was lauded for his communication skills as much as his deeply ingrained shot-stopping and attack-launching attributes, as Arsenal cruised to a 2-0 at St James’ Park in his first clean sheet for the club.
“He’s been outstanding in all three games for Arsenal,” added ex-Middlesbrough striker Beck.
“He was so calm and assured in everything he did against Newcastle.
“The fact Maty is getting regular games right now means he’s doing super well and making the choice hard for his manager (in a head-to-head duel with Leno).
“It looks like the manager knows he has two super good goalkeepers he can count on.
“And whoever it is he knows they will play well for him.
“Maty had three great seasons at Brighton - he will never forget them.
“Of course the last season was a little bit up-and-down but he’ll still look back at Brighton as an incredible time in his career.
“Now, though, he’s thinking about Arsenal and his future, and where it might lie.”
Beck said Ryan’s preference was to remain in England in a league he believes to be the best in the world.
“We can definitely see ourselves staying there but of course that doesn’t mean we are closing the door to anything else either,” he stressed.
“Maty has now played four seasons in England ... he loves living there, he loves being there and loves the passion of the fans.”
