The Socceroos midfield pairing clashed in a match carrying significant play-off ramifications, with Villa needing nothing less than all three points to keep pace with the automatic promotion places.

Instead, QPR - bolstered by an impressive Luongo performance - ran out comfortable winners at Villa Park.

Goals to Ryan Manning, Jake Bidwell and Luke Freeman steered the west London side to victory before James Chester grabbed a consolation goal for the Villans.

The win lifts QPR up to 15th in the league table, 15 points adrift of the final play-off spot, currently held by Middlesbrough.

Jedinak's hopes of an automatic return to the Premier League suffered a blow with the defeat, as third-placed Villa are now seven points behind second-placed Cardiff City after their 3-1 victory over Brentford.

Meanwhile, Jackson Irvine produced an assist in Hull City's 3-0 win over Ipswich Town, with the Socceroos midfielder on hand for Markus Henriksen's opener.
Hull have now pieced together back-to-back league wins for the first time this season and sit 17th as a result - nine points above the relegation zone.

Fellow Socceroo Mark Milligan came off the bench for Al Ahli and played 65 minutes in their 1-1 draw with Al Gharafa in the AFC Champions League.

Milligan has played in all four matches of Al Ahli's continental campaign this season, with the Saudi side sitting top of Group A with two games left to play.

Anthony Caceres also played AFC Champions League football as UAE club Al Wasl fell 1-0 at home to Persian outfit Persepolis, their fourth successive defeat in the competition this season.

In Scotland, Lyndon Dykes' Queen of the South suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Premiership hopefuls Dundee United.

United brought on former Socceroo Scott McDonald, with just under 20 minutes remaining, and the third-placed Championship side already in control.

Jack Iredale's Greenock Morton, chasing Premiership promotion in their own right, conceded a 94th-minute goal to draw 1-1 against second-placed Livingston.
And Tom Beadling also turned out in defence for Dunfermline Athletic in their 1-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
