Luongo poked home from only three yards out after a scramble in the penalty area to score QPR's first goal of the match, but it proved to be one of few highlights for the Loftus Road side as they went down 5-2 to Nottingham Forest.
It was the Luongo's third goal of the season for Ian Holloway's side and his first since the 3-1 win against Burton Albion on January 13.
While the 25-year-old wouldve been happy to get on the scoresheet, it was a match he and his teammates will more than likely want to forget with Forest's slick attack dominating the match for 90 minutes
After the defeat, QPR sit in 16th position on the Championship ladder with 39 points.
Luongo's next match will be against the Aston Villa side of Socceroos teammate Mile Jedinak.
Jedinak will be hoping for more match time in that game after he saw the field for only seven minutes in Villa's come from behind 4-2 win at Sheffield Wednesday.
Coming on as a substitute in the 83rd minute, Jedinak was on the park as his side scored twice in the final three minutes to snatch victory.
The result moves Villa into third on the Championship ladder on 63 points, only one point behind second placed Cardiff City who play Australian defender Bailey Wright's Bristol CIty on Monday (AEDT).
In other Championship action, Millwall's impressive winning run continued with Aussies James Meredith and Tim Cahill both playing a role in their side's 1-0 victory at Burton Albion
Defender Meredith has become an integral part of the Lion's defence and once again played 90 minutes after starting the match.
Cahill played 11 minutes after coming on as a substitute in the 79th minute. The Socceroos great recieved a yellow card late in stoppage time as Millwall clung on for victory.
The resulte was Millwall's fourth consecutive away win with the side losing only once in their past eight fixtures.
Millwall sit in 12th position but are only six points outside playoff contention with twelve games yet to play.
The impressive run of the Harry Kewell coached League Two side Crawley Town came to a halt overnight as they suffered a 2-0 loss to Forest Green.
The defeat was Crawley's second in three weeks but was only their third defeat in the past eleven fixtures.
Socceroo great Kewell will have plenty of work to do to keep Crawley on track for possible promotion to League One with his side six points outside the playoff positions.
In Austria, Aussie midifielder James Holland played the full 90 minutes for side LASK Linz in a 2-0 defeat to Rapid Wienna. Holland also reiceved a yellow card in the clash.
And former Brisbane Roar striker Jamie Maclaren played 66 minutes starting for Scottish Premier League side Hibernian as they shared the spoils 2-2 with Kilmarnock.
