Grigg, who Wigan picked up for $2.26 million in 2015, scored a historic goal against Manchester City in the FA Cup on Tuesday morning (AEDT) to send the League One side through to the quarter-finals.
His single strike is one better than Lukaku has managed against City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in six matches against those sides this season.
The cherry-picked stats can make for even better reading from an Aussie perspective, with Manly United youth product and Wigan left-back Callum Elder producing more assists against the top six this season than Eden Hazard, Raheem Sterling and Mesut Ozil after the Australian played the ball to Grigg for the winner against City.
While Lukaku probably won't be stressing too much about the comparison to Grigg, it does highlight the Manchester United's struggles in the bigger games.
However, Lukaku has produced 21 goals this season in 38 matches in all competitions, showing that it hasn't been a terrible season for the former Everton man.
Meanwhile, Grigg has managed 16 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions, including a competition leading seven goals in the FA Cup.
Wigan will now face Southampton in the quarter-finals, and as the cult-hit song goes, their defence might just start to be terrified because 'Will Grigg is on fire'.
