Rogic has been out of action for club side Celtic since December 5 with a knee injury and it is now feared the mercurial 25-year-old won't be back in action until the end of March.
The former Central Coast Mariners player was expected to make his return early in the new year but Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed Rogic's comeback had hit a major hurdle.
“Could be six to eight weeks," Rodgers said, when asked about Rogic's return date.
A key member of the Socceroos, Rogic's injury could mean he will miss key World Cup warm up fixtures against Norway in Oslo on March 23 and Colombia in London on March 27.
The matches are likely to be the first games under the Socceroos new head coach and will be an important opportunity for players to push their case for selection in Australia's World Cup squad.
The Canberra product has made 27 appearances for Celtic in all competitions this season and has scored four goals.
