Aussies Abroad: Socceroo Wright helps Bristol to victory

Socceroos defender Bailey Wright has helped Bristol City to a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United, while former Central Coast Mariners star Anthony Caceres was on target in the UAE.

Wright was one of many Australians in action overnight, playing the full 90 minutes as the Robins moved into third outright on the EFL Championship standings, three points ahead of opponents United, and three behind second-placed Cardiff City.

After Leon Clarke cancelled out Jamie Paterson's first-half opener, Aden Flint's 91st-minute first-time finish into the bottom corner sent City supporters into raptures as their dream of Premier League qualification continues to build momentum.
In the Arabian Gulf League, Anthony Caceres continued what has been a successful loan stint at Al-Wasl, scoring his first goal of the season in his side's 3-0 win over Al-Ahli Dubai.

The Manchester City loanee played the full 90 minutes and has now been directly involved in three goals in his past five appearances as Al-Wasl lead the league unbeaten after 11 games.

Ryan McGowan was also in action for fellow UAE side Al-Sharjah, playing 70 minutes and receiving a yellow card as his side battled to a 1-1 draw against eighth-placed Dibba Al-Fujairah Club.

Elsewhere, Socceroo Aziz Behich was unable to replicate past performances as Bursaspor fell 1-0 at home to Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig.

Behich played the full match, was booked, but could not prevent his side's powerhouse opponents from their fifth successive win across all competitions.
In India, former Brisbane Roar midfielder Erik Paartalu was a full participant in Bengaluru FC's 1-0 win over NorthEast United.

And Julian Schwarzer, son of Socceroos legend Mark, along with former Swansea City goalkeeper Mark Birighitti made the bench for Fulham's U23s and NAC Breda respectively.
