Matildas star Sam Kerr has claimed the MVP award in America's National Women's Soccer League, adding to her Australian Sportswoman of the Year title.

The 24-year-old attacker scored 17 goals and had four assists in her season with the New Jersey-based Sky Blue FC.

During the season Kerr became the first NWSL player to score four goals in a game against the Seattle Reign on August 19.

Kerr rallied Sky Blue FC from a three-goal deficit to beat the Reign 5-4.

Kerr was also named in the league's Team of the Year.
