Mooy's Huddersfield remain top while Jedinak has tough debut

Australia midfielder Aaron Mooy has helped Huddersfield Town to their best start to a season in 64 years after their 1-0 win over Wolverhampton propelled the Terriers to the top of the Championship table.

Mooy, who is on loan from Manchester City, has been ever present for Huddersfield who remain undefeated in the league this season ahead of the two-week international break.
The former Melbourne City midfielder was once again at the heart of Huddersfield's play, starting the move that led to the only goal of the match - Rajiv van La Parra's sixth minute opener.

Fellow Socceroos midfielder Massimo Luongo once again played 90 minutes as QPR moved up to fifth spot after a 1-0 win at Wigan on Sunday (AEST), thanks to a Nedum Onuoha strike in the second half.
Like Mooy, Luongo has played every game in the Championship this season and the pair will fly out to Perth on Sunday to prepare for the World Cup qualifiers against Iraq on Thursday and the UAE in Dubai on September 7.
Another Australian to enjoy a great start to the season is Burton Albion striker, Jackson Irvine, who headed home the winning goal for the division's smallest club against local rivals Derby County on Saturday (AEST).

It's the Melburnian's third goal in as many matches, as he makes a dream start to life in the Championship.

Mile Jedinak endured a tough debut for Aston Villa after being substituted 11 minutes from time in his new club's 3-1 defeat at Bristol City.

According to Alex Dicken of The Birmingham Mail Jedinak "looked ragged and off the pace at times but maintained his positional discipline a little better than most of his team mates."

"We all know what a good player he is and that will be shown with time," Dicken wrote.

"Today was a baptism of fire and one that he couldn't quite live with.

"However, it won't be long before we see the best of him in claret and blue."
Fellow Aussie, 20 year-old Jordan Lyden was not included in the squad.

Villa have won just once this season and sit in 12th spot on the table after last season's ignominious relegation from the Premier League.

Young Socceroos left-back Callum Elder, who is impressing on a season-long loan at Brentford from Premier League champions Leicester, helped the Bees pick up a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
The 21 year-old is yet to receive an international call-up but his regular strong performances could start to put pressure on Brad Smith, who was once again an unused substitute in Bournemouth's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

Smith has yet to feature in the Premier League this year since moving from Liverpool, but he and Socceroos teammate Adam Federici did help a second-string Cherries team to a 2-1 win in the EFL Cup against Morecombe last Thursday (AEST).

In the Scottish Premier League, former Central Coast Mariner Tom Rogic curled in a fine free-kick to help Celtic brush aside Aberdeen 4-1 at Parkhead and move to the top of the table.
