Messi handed suspended 21 month sentence - won't serve any jail time
Barcelona star Lionel Messi has been sentenced to 21 months in prison after being found guilty of fiscal fraud, according to widespread reports in Spain.

The Barcelona star has been seen this week relaxing on a family holiday in Ibiza, drinks in hand on a luxury yacht.

Moored just two boats away at the Marina Botafoch dock is his great rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who also headed to Ibiza after his triumphant return to Portugal carrying the European Championship trophy.

Despite the close proximity of their vessels, a photo has yet to be taken of the adversaries together.

The 29 year-old Messi was visibly distraught after another unsuccessful tournament with the Argentinian national team.

Question marks remain over his commitment to the side after announcing his retirement shortly after the Copa America Centenario final loss to Chile on penalties.
