was intercepted by a group of attackers after leaving a party late on Saturday night in the notoriously dangerous Mexican state of Tamaulipas.
It is reported by that the 25 year-old, who weighs 68 kilograms and stands 1.75 metres tall, turned the tables on his abductors some 24 hours after being kidnapped.
In the dramatic account of events, it has been revealed that Pulido made three calls to Mexico's emergency number, after finding himself alone with one of the captors and overpowering him.
During the calls, Pulido had to alert authorities as to what he was wearing, so he wouldn't be confused with the now-unconscious kidnapper, as Mexican police began firing bullets at the house where he was being abducted.
Tamaulipas state Attorney General Ismael Quintanilla said emergency services had received the call from Pulido after midnight on Sunday due to "a careless act by his captors".
"There was an exchange of punches between them," Quintanilla said.
"Everyone began to activate to look for him, especially when we knew who he was, because we knew it was going to make a big ruckus and was going to be affecting us a lot in the press".
Earlier, Pulido's family had received two ransom calls from the group of four attackers, one of which is said to be a known member of a criminal organisation in the Mexican Gulf coast state of Veracruz.
According to Mexico government statistics, there have been 41 reported kidnappings in Tamaulipas since the start of the year, compared to 78 during the same period last year, although the actual number is believed to be much higher due to non-reportings.
Pulido, who has scored four goals in six games for Mexico since his debut two years ago, made his professional debut with the Tigres of Monterrey and joined Olympiacos in 2014.
