Phoenix will play Fiji on Saturday 27 June and Tuesday 30 June after the its Academy side faces Fiji's U-23 side.

The first games are scheduled for Suva's ANZ National Stadium while the second dates will be played hosted at Govind Park in Ba - two hours from Nadi.

Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick said the matches will provide a great work-out for his players, who will have had just 10 days or so of training.

"It is always good to play against an international team as you have to raise your standards and it will be a challenge that early in our pre-season," Merrick said.

Phoenix General Manager, David Dome said the team was pumped and ready to take on this unique opportunity.

"The fans are a big part of what we do and we’re so excited to have them joining us on the inaugural flight out to Fiji," Dome said.

"Fiji Airways is doing these amazing special fare deals and it’s such a great opportunity to get to see some quality football while enjoying everything else the tropical paradise offers during our winter."

The club's Fijian striker, Roy Krishna, was excited about the trip home and said the matches would be a chance for local fans to see their star players come up against professional opposition.

Merrick confirmed he would allow Krishna to put his country first when the teams meet.

"Roy is a real asset to the Phoenix but I think that he should represent his country, and if he scores a few goals against us – fantastic. The more he scores, the happier I’ll be," Merrick said.

The ANZ Stadium in Suva seats about 15,000 and tickets are expected to sell out.
