Chris Wood put the All Whites ahead on 14 minutes before Benjamin Totori equalised for the host in the 57th minute.
Both teams progressed to the tournament semi-finals, with the Kiwis to face New Caledonia and Solomon Island up against Tahiti.
All four nations qualified for the third and final double round-robin stage of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Earlier on Wednesday, Frank Farina coached Papua New Guinea drew 1-1 with Fiji.
Maciu Dunadamu opened the scoring for Fiji on 14 minutes but a late strike from Kema Jack secured PNG's only point of the group stage.
