Michael Ballack's hopes of a move to a Major League Soccer club have been dashed, according to a German newspaper report.
The former Germany captain is not listed as a new MLS player after the US transfer deadline of 30 July, Express newspaper reported on Saturday.
Ballack, 35, who is out of a contract after leaving Bayer Leverkusen, turned down an offer from MLS side Montreal Impact, the report claimed.
Ballack, who played the last of his 267 Bundesliga games on 5 May, is reported to have received offers from China and the United Arab Emirates.
The European transfer window closes on 31 August.
