The 28-year-old rejoins the club two years after leaving for the Canaries and becomes
Crofts made 50 appearances for Brighton in the 2009-2010 campaign before helping Norwich into the Premier League.
Seagulls boss Poyet told the club's official website, www.seagulls.co.uk: "When we knew about the possibility to bring him back we worked very hard to do that, and it took a few weeks, but we are very pleased to have him.
"We respected his career and helped him when there was interest from Norwich two years ago and he went on to become a very good Championship player as well as proving himself in the Premier League.
"Now I am delighted to have him back and he is going to be a very important player for us. We were always looking to bring experienced players who know this division and the Premiership and Crofty has all of that."
