Comeback trail... Culina is desperate to revive his career (Getty)
Australia midfielder Jason Culina's rehabilitation from a career-threatening knee injury will step up a gear as he trains with A-League side Sydney FC.
Out of action since breaking down at the 2011 Asian Cup, the 32-year-old is digging deep to get himself fit again and has been receiving on-going treatment from long-time friend and Sydney FC physio Stan Ivancic.
Culina will now have the added incentive of working alongside fellow Socceroos midfielder Brett Emerton and defender Pascal Bosschaart, as they return from long-term injuries.
"Jason has had a terrible injury, he is a great guy and has been a wonderful servant of the Socceroos," Sydney FC Football Director Gary Cole said.
"As such we want to assist him to get back playing football as soon as possible.
"Jason is very happy with this position and is looking forward to regaining full fitness.
"Nothing has been discussed further than that," Cole concluded.
Sky Blues coach Ian Crook has previously said Culina would be too expensive for the club, unless '.. Jase says he'll come for $20,000 (a year) then maybe,'.
"At the end of the day, Jase has been a fantastic player and I'm sure he'll get back to playing again," Crook said.
"Certainly if he gets back to the stage where he's playing and he's fit and healthy then there'll be a number of clubs interested in taking him on board."
