Real Madrid says it has signed defender Alavaro Arbeloa to a two-year contract extension that ties him to the Spanish champion through to the end of the 2015-2016 season.
Arbeloa, who started his career with Madrid before moving to Deportivo La Coruna in 2006, has been a first-team regular since joining from Liverpool in 2009. The right-back also became a regular starter for Spain, which he helped win a second straight European championship last month.
Madrid did not release financial details of the deal.
Arbeloa gave credit to Madrid coach Jose Mourinho for his continued improvement, saying the Portuguese 'has made me a better football player and helped me make the important jump to where I am today'.
