Malaga reported over unpaid wages

19 July 2012-PA Sport

Malaga could face severe sanctions after four players reported the club to the Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) for unpaid wages.

Union representative Luis Rubiales met with those affected last week and, although he refused to confirm the names of those he met, he did confirm that in some cases between 30-40 per cent of salaries has not been paid.

The club now has until 25 July to respond to the allegations and the end of the month to come to an agreement with the players. Should it fail to do so however, under new rules implemented after last season's player strike, the club could be relegated to the Segunda Division and thrown out of the UEFA Champions League.
