Gijon coach Preciado departs

1 February 2012-PA Sport

Sporting Gijon has confirmed the departure of Manuel Preciado as coach.

Manuel Vega-Arango, the president of the Primera Division struggler, made the announcement at an emotional press conference.

"Perhaps it is, but I refuse to call this a termination or a dismissal, I call it a change on the bench," Vega-Arango told www.realsporting.com

"How difficult and how painful decisions are to make sometimes."

Preciado took charge at Sporting in 2006 and led it into the top flight in 2008.

The Asturian club is second from bottom in the Primera Division and has won just one of its last six league games.

The club confirmed that Inaki Tejada will coach the side against Osasuna this weekend.
