Jamieson finding his feet

26 February 2010-SBS

Adelaide United defender Scott Jamieson can feel the form from his first season at the club after his role in the win over Pohang Steelers in the Asian Champions League.

Following the match, the former Bolton Wanderers player appeared somewhat relieved and at the same time happy to be rediscovering the sort of form that saw him claim the A-League Rising Star award in 2008/2009.

Having set himself such high standards during his first 12 months with Adelaide, the 21 year-old conceded he has found it tough going in his second year. He made the left-sided defensive role his own during the 2008/09 campaign, that also saw him earn his first Socceroos cap.

Season 2009/10 has seen the youngster struggle for consistency at times, although he did manage 24 out of the Reds' 27 A-League games in the campaign just gone, and in the past month or so Jamieson seems to have found his form.

“It’s a good feeling,” Jamieson said.

“I’ve just tried to keep it simple in the last 3-4 weeks since I got back into the team, it has been enjoyable and luckily I’m finding my feet at the right time.”

The fullback certainly has picked the right time, with United winning their last three matches, including the scalp of the current ACL champion Pohang.

United kept the Korean outfit scoreless, maintaining the Reds record of never conceding a goal to Korean opposition in three encounters.

“It’s good to be back in Asia and competing against the best,” Jamieson said.

With the World Cup looming just months away, Jamieson is under no illusions about his chances of making the trip to South Africa, instead he is focused on the Socceroos upcoming Asian Cup qualifier against Indonesia in Brisbane next week.

“I don’t think I’m anywhere near the World Cup right now. If I’m talking about that then I’m a silly boy, so it’s just about trying to get in the team for the game against Indonesia, taking my chance and then going from there,” Jamieson said.

“It’s a game where I hopefully can get a run and do well.”
