Veteran Sydney FC captain Steve Corica is expected to announce his retirement from football at the end of the season.
Corica is set to make the announcement at a press conference at Sydney's Star City casino on Wednesday afternoon.
The 36-year-old’s decision comes days before Sydney's premiership-deciding showdown with Melbourne Victory at the Sydney Football Stadium.
Corica’s decision will bring to an end a glittering 19-year professional career, which started at Marconi in 1990 before stints in England with Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He made his Socceroos debut against Kuwait in 1993 and played 32 games in the green and gold.
Corica was a foundation member of the Sydney FC squad, scoring the winning goal in the inaugural A-League grand final in 2006.
