Kuwait Emir Cup champions Al Qadisiya moved top of the Kuwait league standings thanks to a 2-0 victory against 10-men Al Sahel in round 11 of domestic league on Friday.
After a scoreless first half, Al Qadisiya took the lead five minutes into the second half through striker Ahmed Ajab while Ivory Coast midfielder Ibrahim Keita made it 2-0 in the second minute of stoppage time.
Al Sahel were reduced to 10 men one minute later as defender Mohammed Freih received his second yellow card of the game as Al Qadisiya claimed their seventh win and their 23rd point of the season.
Elsewhere, Al Arabi defeated Al Salmiya 3-1 in the top match of the round to deny Al Salmiya from sharing the top spot of the standings.
Al Salmiya opened the scoring in the 33rd minute through Bahraini midfielder Seyed Mahmoud Jalal but Al Arabi levelled the scores five minutes into the second half through Syrian striker Firas Al Khatib.
Al Arabi took the lead in the 69th minute through defender Hussain Al Gharib before Ali Maqseed made it 3-1 in the 75th minute.
Jordan Henderson believes Daniel Sturridge's availability to play against Chelsea would be "massive" for Liverpool.
