Estudiantes have strengthened their position at the top of Argentina's Clausura after easing to a 3-1 victory against struggling Rosario Central.
During the first half Roberto Sensini's Estudiantes struggled to create chances without suspended playmaker Juan Sebastian Veron.
But Uruguayan forward Juan Salgueiro finally broke the deadlock for Estudiantes with a superb long-range volley from outside of the area just before the hour-mark.
With 25 minutes remaining Central forward Jose Vizcarra converted a dubious penalty to level the scores, but just two minutes later, defender Juan Diaz headed home a corner to regain the lead for Estudiantes.
Striker Pablo Piatti sealed the three points which helped Estudiantes open up a three-point advantage over River Plate, who face Argentinos Junior on Sunday (local time).
"We changed our attitude in the second half. In the first we couldn't get the ball and create any chances," said coach Roberto Sensini.
Strike Piatti added: "In the second half we handled the ball better and created the space to score. We have a good squad who can fight for the domestic title as well as the Copa Libertadores."
Elsewhere, Jeronimo Barrales scored twice as Banfield came from behind to defeat Huracan 4-3.
