VDB goal gives Red Bulls draw

-AAP

Dave van den Bergh converted from a free kick in the first half to rally the New York Red Bulls to a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC and end the Canadians' three-game winning streak.

Marco Velez scored his first Major League Soccer goal to give Toronto FC the lead in the 22nd minute

But van den Bergh capitalised on a handball by Tyrone Marshall, curling a left-footed shot around the far side of the wall and inside the left post to equalise 16 minutes later.

The result extended Toronto's unbeaten streak to four, but left it in fifth place in MLS' Eastern Conference with 10 points, one ahead of the Red Bulls.

The match marked the first game for Toronto FC's Amado Guevara against his former club since returning to MLS last month. Guevara played four seasons for the Red Bulls, then known as the MetroStars, winning the league's player of the year award in 2004.
