Cameroon international Oumarou Aboubakar scored twice as Changsha Ginde claimed their first victory since sacking Serbian coach Slobodan Santrac, outclassing newly promoted Guangzhou Guangyao 4-2 at home.
Santrac was dismissed on June 26 after one win in nine CSL games this season, but Changsha defied the form book against Guangzhou to climb out of the relegation zone.
Aboubakar opened the scoring after 16 minutes, outrunning three Guangzhou defenders before shooting past keeper Li Shuai.
Aboubakar added his second with a one-on-one strike before Zhang Chenglin volleyed in a third.
Ramirez Luis Alfredo pulled one back with a header but Yu Guijun restored the three-goal advantage four minutes later.
Tang Dechao netted a late consolation for Guangzhou, while Changsha midfielder Zhang Xiaobin was sent-off in stoppage time after receiving a second yellow card.
"We knew that we had to sport an underdog tag before the clash against Guangzhou, so we decided to use counter-attack strategy. Fortunately, our tactics proved successful," said Changsha team manager Jin Yan.
Changsha now have 11 points and moved up to 10th place in the 16-member league, while Guangzhou now have 16 points and are sixth.
"We did gain an insight to Ginde before the game and made due arrangements. But Aboubakar played extremely well today and created much trouble to us," said Guangzhou coach Shen Xiangfu.
