Arsenal have appointed Daniel Garnero as their new head coach.
Garnero, who was coaching the club's reserve team, will have his first experience as the boss after a successful playing career at Independiente during the 1990s.
After the end of the Clausura tournament last month, Arsenal decided not to renew the contract to Gustavo Alfaro, who led the team to the Copa Sudamericana title last year.
It was Arsenal's very first international achievement and earned qualification for two further showpiece competitions.
Arsenal are set to meet Japan`s Gamba Osaka for the Suruga Bank Cup on July 30 as part of an agreement between the South American Football Confederation and the Japanese Football Association.
Meanwhile, Garnero's are poised to play 2007 Copa Libertadores champions Boca Juniors in a two-legged tie on August 14 and 28 (AEST) for the 2007 Recopa Sudamericana title.
The club's official website, www.celesteyrojo.com.ar said Garnero and his assistants Hermes Desio and Pablo Rotchen "will formally take over at the professional team on Saturday".
"We must take Arsenal back to top places," said Garnero.
