NYL: Minniecon on the double

The win maintained Gold Coast's undefeated run in their first year of competition and are fast becoming the team to beat in the NYL. The win moved them to the top of the ladder.

After dominating the early proceedings, Gold Coast took the lead thanks to a fine individual goal by Minniecon seven minutes before the break. The Young Socceroo picked up the ball wide on the left-hand side, before weaving his way past three Jets defenders and firing a low shot past Dion Shaw in the Newcastle goal.

That lead was extended just six minutes after the break thanks to another terrific run by Minniecon through the heart of the Newcastle defence and smashing the ball home.
