A hat-trick from Michelle Heyman has seen Central Coast Mariners smash Adelaide United 6-0 in their W-League match at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday.
Played in awful conditions with players and officials needing regular drinks break in the extremely hot weather, the Mariners didn't let it affect them, confirming their status among the top teams this season.
Heyman opened the scoring in the 22nd minute from close range and then doubled the lead after 40 minutes. Ashleigh Connor had time to add a third before the break.
Kendall Fletcher added a spectacular long range free kick to the scorers list and Heyman minutes later had a third goal. Lydia Vandenburgh finished off the scoring with a little under 20 minutes remaining.
Guardiola ready for comeback
Departing Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has hinted he could be seduced into making an earlier than expected return from his sabbatical.
