A depleted Australian Institute of Sport secured a magnificent point after playing out an incredible 4-4 draw with a star-studded Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday.
With a host players missing because of international commitments, the AIS were not expected to trouble Adelaide, who included first team stars Lucas Pantelis, Lloyd Owusu, Cassio and Fabian Barbiero.
After scores were locked one apiece at half time, the floodgates opened in the second half, Kamal Ibrahim the hero for the AIS with a deserved late equaliser.
Ibrahim struck the first blow of the game as well, opening the scoring after 11 minutes with a terrific shot into the top corner of the net.
Francesco Monterosso grabbed the equaliser for the home side 15 minutes later with an excellent header from a free kick.
Adelaide took the lead after 65 minutes when Cassio crashed home a free kick off the underside of the crossbar.
But that only brought the AIS to life and within a blink of an eye they were ahead with two goals in two minutes from Aaron Peterson and John Martinoski.
Roles were reversed soon after when Adelaide then scored twice in quick succession through Dane Milovanovic and Pantelis before Ibrahim earned AIS a point with just three minutes remaining.
