Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is likely to assess Ben Alnwick this week before a decision is made on the goalkeeper being immediately loaned out again.
Alnwick, 21, is back from a month at Carlisle and is an option for Redknapp following Heurelho Gomes' latest blunder - which cost Spurs Premier League points against Fulham at the weekend.
Carlisle boss Greg Abbott wants the England Under-21s stopper back at Brunton Park. But Redknapp is expected to take a look at the youngster, as he has with other Spurs players not involved in the first team since his appointment three weeks ago.
Redknapp also has veteran Cesar Sanchez, a specialist reserve who came off the bench for his debut last week when Gomes was injured during the Carling Cup win over Liverpool.
"I am here as a solution for the coach," Cesar said in Marca.
"Whether I play or not, I am not going to change; I will keep a smile on my face and be focused on my club duty. But, of course, I like to play."
There are no such problems in attack for Redknapp, with Darren Bent's goalscoring form earning him a call-up to the England squad for this week's clash in Germany.
Captain Ledley King said: "Darren Bent deserved his selection, because he has scored a lot of important goals for us this season. It was only a matter of time before he got the call-up.
"He is a goalscorer. He loves to play on the shoulder of the last defender; he can get behind the opposing defence and he is a great finisher. But you have to play to his strengths. If you do that, he will score goals."
