Fans urged to grab tickets

18 December 2009-SBS

Australian football fans are being urged to purchase their tickets for the 2010 World Cup sooner rather than later, the FFA said.

"With the World Cup now just six months away, we would encourage fans to purchase their tickets now," said Football Federation Australia chief commercial officer John O'Sullivan.

Applications for tickets in the Australian supporter allocation from FIFA close on 13 January 2010.

"The Australian supporter allocation is very limited and demand is expected to be huge," O'Sullivan said.

"With more than 500,000 applications already received in the current FIFA offering, applying now as part of the Australian supporter area will help the Qantas Socceroos by giving them a 'home game' atmosphere in South Africa."

O'Sullivan said that Australian supporter area tickets can be applied for online at www.footballaustralia.com.au.  He added that travel packages are also available from Total Sports Travel, a FIFA licensed tour operator, at www.totalsportstravel.com.au
