Bayern Munich goalkeeper Michael Rensing believes he will soon be a candidate for a place in the Germany goal and claims that he is already at least as good as the current number one Rene Adler.
Speaking at Bayern's training camp in Dubai, the 24-year-old announced his plans to play his way into Joachim Loew's thoughts.
"Sooner or later it will become an issue," he said.
"If you see that the current national team goalkeeper was behind me in the under-21s three years ago, then anybody can guess what I am thinking."
Rensing stood in the firing line for much of his first season as Bayern's first-choice goalkeeper having inherited the number one jersey from Oliver Kahn last northern summer, but he feels he managed to prove his critics wrong before Christmas.
"Things did not go too well in the first few months in defence, and that includes me, but things got a lot better recently and I would say that the last two months were fantastic," he said.
"It is enjoyable and a great feeling to be the number one."
He conceded 24 goals in the first half of the season - 16 more than his predecessor had at the same stage of last season.
However, Rensing does not have nightmares about picking the ball out of the back of his net.
"We have got to work on being more solid in defence, but if we were to become champions, I would not care about conceding 50 goals," he said.
