Sneijder inspires Gala comeback

26 February 2013-PA Sport

Wesley Sneijder scored his first goal for Galatasaray to spark a superb second-half comeback that saw the Super Lig leader overturn a two-goal deficit to win 4-2 against fourth-bottom Orduspor.

It looked set to be a night to forget for host Gala after falling behind to a farcical 15th-minute own goal when home goalkeeper Fernando Muslera inadvertently belted the ball into team-mate Selcuk Inan on the edge of the box and watching it loop back over his head and into the net.

The visitor, who started the day two points above the relegation zone, then added to Gala's problems by doubling its lead on the stroke of half-time through Bogdan Stancu's penalty.

However, Gala fought back in emphatic fashion after the break with four goals in 20 minutes.

Netherlands ace Sneijder, a January recruit from Inter Milan, started the recovery with a brilliant curling strike in the 58th minute, opening his account for the club in the process, before Burak Yilmaz netted twice in three minutes to put Gala ahead.

Inan then got his name on the scoresheet again - this time for his own team - with a fantastic 22-metre effort to make it 4-2 as Gala moved six points clear of nearest challenger Fenerbahce at the top of the table.
