Not quite as sharp ... Adelaide's Jeronimo (Getty Images)
Adelaide United coach John Kosmina has urged his players to be hungrier if they want to return to the winning ways successfully roadblocked by arch-rival Melbourne Victory.
Victory's first A-League win under Ange Postecoglou was the Reds' first defeat of the season - a 2-1 result on Friday night after Adelaide had led.
Kosmina questioned his players' desperation to win at critical times in the match, admitting some appeared "rattled" on the big stage at Etihad Stadium.
"People have got to want to win. (Striker) Jeronimo makes a great run in the second half, gets behind and we've got two blokes standing on the edge of the box getting a suntan instead of busting their arse to get to the line and tap it in the back of net," Kosmina said.
"You've got to be hungry to win, and that's one thing we've got to learn.
"We play some nice football, knock the ball around, and it all looks very pretty.
"But you've still got to have that little bit of hunger, be a winner.
"Winners make those hard runs, even when they're tired."
Kosmina felt winger Fabio Ferreira was among several who didn't reproduce their form of the previous two weeks against Victory.
But he said the Reds were capable of going on with the job this season, as long as they learned from the experience.
"There was a couple of guys that got a little bit rattled," he said.
"Certainly for Fabio, I think the lights were too bright for him. Jeronimo wasn't quite as sharp as he was last week.
"I've got faith in all the players that we can go on with the job so for them, it's a real big learning experience."
