Poland beats South Africa

13 October 2012-AP

Marcin Komorowski scored in the 82nd minute to give Poland a 1-0 victory over South Africa in a friendly match in the EURO 2012 stadium in Warsaw.

Komorowski fired a precise close-range shot from a powerful cross by Kamil Grosicki, giving South Africa goalkeeper Ituneleng Khune no chance.

The match was a warm-up for next week's 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against England, but Poland played without many of its top players.

Striker Robert Lewandowski was rested while captain Jakub Blaszczykowski and midfielder Jakub Kosecki were injured. Midfielder Eugen Polanski could not play due to a family emergency.

Montanier to leave Sociedad

Real Sociedad coach Philippe Montanier is to leave the Primera Division side at the end of the season after turning down a contract extension, the Basque club has confirmed.
