Ajax closing in on Moisander

20 August 2012-PA Sport

Niklas Moisander is poised to complete his transfer from AZ Alkmaar to Ajax, the player's agent has confirmed.

The two clubs have agreed a fee believed to be in the region of 3million euros ($A3.5 million) for the 26-year-old Finland defender, who is expected to put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the reigning champions after completing his medical.

"It's a matter of the final details now, but I expect that everything will work out fine," Moisander's agent Soren Lerby told Voetbal International.

Ajax have moved to bring the centre-half back to the club as the replacement for former captain Jan Vertonghen, who joined Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.

Moisander spent two years at Ajax between 2004 and 2006 after arriving from Finnish side Turun Palloseura, but failed to make a first-team appearance for the Amsterdammers before joining Belgian outfit Zwolle in 2008.
