Levein calls up McCormack, Black

13 August 2012-PA Sport

Craig Levein has called up Ross McCormack and Ian Black for Scotland's friendly against Australia at Easter Road on Wednesday evening (Thursday morning AEST), the Scottish Football Association has confirmed.

The national team boss added the Leeds United striker and Rangers midfielder after confirmation of four withdrawals.

Winger James Forrest (groin), striker Jamie Mackie (calf) and defender Phil Bardsley (ankle) have pulled out while midfielder Graham Dorrans is with his baby daughter who is ill in hospital.

McCormack rejoins the squad having last featured in the Carling Nations Cup against Republic of Ireland last year. Black will be hoping for his first full international cap having played in a 3-0 'B' International victory against Northern Ireland in 2009.

The game is Levein's last opportunity to get a look at his squad before the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers begin next month.

Scotland starts its campaign with a double-header at Hampden Park against Serbia and FYR Macedonia before trips to Wales and Belgium the following month.

Laudrup keen to add strike power

Michael Laudrup admits the biggest challenge of his northern summer will be to find another Michu and ensure Swansea City is more clinical in front of goal next term.
