Tim Cahill's Major League Soccer debut has suffered a blow, with New York Red Bulls going down 2-0 to Houston Dynamo.
Jermaine Taylor gave the away side a second-minute lead before Calen Carr doubled the advantage in the 28th minute as in-form Houston moved two points clear of the Red Bulls at the top of the Eastern Conference with its fifth consecutive victory.
Australia's Cahill was named in New York's starting line-up after his recent move from Everton.
Cahill also featured in New York's 2-1 friendly midweek defeat to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in an international club friendly.
