AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has claimed the club is selling striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and defender Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain.

The pair are reported to have joined the ambitious Ligue 1 outfit for a combined 65 million euros ($78.26 million).

"Yes, I sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to PSG," Berlusconi was quoted as telling www.gazzetta.it

"We will save 150 million euros ($180.59 million) in two years."

Ibrahimovic, who was Serie A's top scorer last season, netting 28 goals as Milan finished runner-up to Juventus, was tied to the Rossoneri for another three seasons.

The 30-year-old spent two seasons at Milan, the first on loan from Barcelona before signing on a permanent deal the following northern summer.

PSG sporting director Leonardo had revealed earlier in the day he was due to meet the striker's agent.

The former Milan coach, who met the Sweden captain in his homeland on Wednesday, told Gazzetta dello Sport: "The negotiation is ongoing and we have spoken in Sweden.

"At this time everything is possible because the transfer market is like this, it's always open.

"We will soon meet with (Ibrahimovic's agent) Mino Raiola and we will see what happens.

"But a deal can only be considered completed once it is done."

Thiago Silva has been strongly linked with a move to the French capital throughout the northern summer, but he appeared to have committed his future to Milan when, after the Italian giant turned down a reported £36.35 million ($55.35 million) bid from PSG for the player, he signed a new lucrative contract to keep him at the San Siro until June 2017.

Only two days ago Thiago Silva claimed that he 'never thought of leaving' the Rossoneri this northern summer.

The powerful 27-year-old has been at Milan since 2009 after signing from Fluminense.

The signings continue the northern summer recruitment drive of PSG, backed by its new Qatari owners, as it looks to land the Ligue 1 title and make an impact in the UEFA Champions League.

It has already brought in Argentina striker Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli.

The pair's departure will leave a significant hole in the Milan squad, though, which has already lost experienced players like Mark van Bommel.
