Central Coast fullback Josh Rose said his side must be at its best to nullify a Melbourne Victory team determined to end a lean run of results at AAMI Park on Friday.
Despite sitting 18 points ahead of Victory, Rose reckons the Yellow and Navy cannot afford to be complacent against Jim Magilton’s star-studded line-up.
“Melbourne Victory are always a dangerous team to play,” Rose said. “If you look at their forward line they’ve got a lot of dangerous players and they can punish you on the break if you’re not careful.”
“You watch some of their games that they have got a good result from … and you can’t take them lightly”.
Despite having had its 15-game unbeaten run broken by Roar, Rose said Mariners boss Graham Arnold has changed little throughout the team's preparation for the clash with Victory.
Indeed, the lightning fast, level-headed left defender said it is up to the team to ‘move on’ swiftly following the teams first defeat since October 23.
“Arnie’s (Graham Arnold) been really positive," he said. "I think the most important thing is that we learn our lesson from last week and move on and try and change it – turn it around this week.”
With the wet weather having largely ceased on the Central Coast, the Mariners have enjoyed a far better build up for the Victory fixture.
“I think that there were reasons behind last weeks performance,” Arnold said. “Even saying that we definitely had our chances to win the game against Roar.
"The fact that we got back to the Central Coast after the Gold Coast game and we couldn’t train anywhere made it very difficult.”
Arnold has been forced into a number of squad changes due to injuries sustained to Pedj Bojic (knee) and Troy Hearfield (hamstring) at Bluetongue Stadium when Mariners met Roar.
