Favre has taken Borussia Monchengladbach from the bottom of the Bundesliga, via a relegation play-off, to fourth place in the table and on course for a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
That achievement has caught Beckenbauer's eye and, only weeks after proposing the name of
"I think that Favre would also have the authority (that he has now) at a club like Bayern," he told
"The experienced players are quick to notice if they are dealing with a coach who is a charlatan or speaks rubbish, or if they are working for somebody who understands their job."
However, while Beckenbauer continues to think of future coaches for his club, he admits the present solution with Jupp Heynckes could endure.
Heynckes' contract runs until 2013 and Beckenbauer would not be surprised if the 66-year-old extended his stay in Bavaria.
"If he feels fit enough, then he has the best opportunities at Bayern," added Beckenbauer.
"If his life revolves around the Bundesliga, then he can carry on for a year or two."
