Going home... Trimboli will be hoping to emulate his success with Roar at Victory (Getty)
As first reported by The World Game in April, Paul Trimboli has followed Ange Postecoglou from Brisbane Roar to become Melbourne Victory's Football Operations Manager.
Th ex-Socceroos and South Melbourne striker returns home to Melbourne after a season with Roar to reunite with Postecoglou.
"While I enjoyed my time with Brisbane Roar and made many great friends, Melbourne was always home, so when this opportunity presented itself, I felt that it was the right one for me," Trimboli said.
"“Melbourne Victory's fans are quite remarkable and they crave success, so it's a great challenge and one that I'm extremely excited about."
Trimboli and Postecoglou played together in the National Soccer League and had great success as team-mates and with the latter in charge as coach in the late 1990s.
"Ange and I have known one another for a very long time, so to be able to continue working alongside him – albeit at a different club – is a fantastic result for me," Trimboli added.
After being confirmed as Victory coach just days after the A-League grand final triumph in April, Postecoglou has quickly gone to work making changes to his support staff.
"We're trying to build a new football department structure at the club and having someone of Paul's capabilities behind the scenes was extremely important to me," Postecoglou said.
"Not only was Paul a highly respected player, but the wide ranging experience he’s acquired since retiring has been very impressive too and I saw the benefits of his skills set first-hand at Brisbane Roar."
Trimboli starts work at Victory on Monday 2 July.
