A last-minute goal by Tatsuya Masushima saw leader Sanfrecce Hiroshima go down to a 2-1 home defeat by Kashiwa Reysol as it was joined at the top of the J League by Vegalta Sendai.
A draw appeared to be the most likely outcome but with seconds left Masushima pounced for victory.
