Gilardino on the move again

1 September 2012-PA Sport

Bologna has signed striker Alberto Gilardino from Genoa for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old, who only signed a four-year contract at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in January, has now been allowed to link up with Stefano Pioli's Rossoblu.

Gilardino made his name for Bologna's local rivals Parma, even scoring a critical goal as his new employer was relegated in a two-legged play-off final in 2005.

The Piemontese forward soon earned a move to AC Milan, with whom he won the UEFA Champions League in 2007 before joining Fiorentina a year later.

He was also part of Marcello Lippi's FIFA World Cup-winning squad of 2006 and has scored 17 goals in 47 appearances for the Azzurri.
