Buffon wants new Juve deal

27 August 2012-PA Sport

Gianluigi Buffon is ready to sign a new contract with last season's Serie A champion Juventus.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper has made over 300 appearances since joining from Parma in 2001 and in the last campaign played a key role as Antonio Conte's side went through an entire league season unbeaten.

Buffon was sidelined through injury as Juve began its title defence with a 2-0 victory over Parma, and the Italy international, whose current deal runs until the end of the season, remains eager to commit his long-term future to the Turin giant.

When asked if he was prepared to sign a new contract at the Juventus Stadium, he told the Sky Calcio Show: "I'm ready to talk when the club is.

"I've talked about it often with president (Andrea) Agnelli, when Juve are ready, I will be ready to renew."
