Walter Mazzarri will take control of Napoli on the first day of the Serie A season after having a touchline ban overturned by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).

The 50-year-old head coach was sent to the stands for remonstrating with officials as Partenopei were beaten 4-2 by Juventus in the Supercoppa.

Players Goran Pandev, Andrea Dossena and Juan Camilo Zuniga were also handed suspensions, which were upheld by the Federal Court of Justice.

Mazzarri was handed a one-match ban, ruling him out of the league opener against Palermo, but saw the original punishment replaced by a fine.

A statement on the FIGC website read: "The Federal Court of Justice has partially amended the punishment of Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri, commuting a one-match ban for his actions in the Supercoppa to a fine of 20,000 euros ($24,000).

"Appeals against the two-game bans for Goran Pandev and Andrea Dossena have been rejected, and the appeal by Juan Camilo Zuniga against his one-match ban has been ruled inadmissible."

Mazzarri was so incensed by the officials' performances in the Beijing showpiece that he and his players refused to attend the trophy presentation.
