Pato injured in training

AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato has suffered a new injury setback with the start of his side's Serie A challenge just four days away.

Inter completes Cassano deal

The Brazil international, 22, was restricted to just 11 league appearances for the runner-up last season due to a succession of leg injuries as he battled to stay off the treatment table

A statement on the club's official website read: "AC Milan can confirm that during training today, Alexandre Pato reported a problem with his left adductor muscle.

"There will be further medical examinations in the coming days to determine the extent of the damage."

Milan begins the new season with the visit of newly-promoted Sampdoria this weekend.
