Viola wrap up Fernandez deal

29 July 2012-PA Sport

Fiorentina has reached an agreement with Sporting over the transfer of Chile international Matias Fernandez to the Serie A club.

The Argentina-born midfielder moved to Europe from Colo Colo in 2006, joining Villarreal, with which he celebrated the club's best ever league finish in his second season as it finished runner-up in the Primera Division.

The Chile and South America footballer of the year in 2006 joined Sporting in 2009 and became a regular for the Portuguese side.

He has signed a four-year contract with Fiorentina and commenced training with the club's youth team on Saturday as the first team has been given two days off at the end of its training camp in Moena.
