Catania striker Maxi Lopez is set to complete a permanent transfer to AC Milan, according to the Italian media.

The Argentina forward, who is also a reported target of Fulham Athletic, has been strongly linked with a move to the San Siro outfit since last month.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims Lopez's agent Andrea D'Amico as well as Catania and AC Milan executives are holding talks on Monday at the Rossoneri's headquarters in Milan's Via Turati with a view to seal the deal.

Milan are looking to reinforce its attacking line with Italy striker Antonio Cassano ruled out indefinitely after undergoing a heart procedure last year.

The reigning Italian champion failed in its attempt to sign Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez this month and has now turned its full attention on Lopez.

Lopez, 27, has scored three goals in 14 league appearances for Catania this season.
