Hearts face sanctions over unpaid wages

17 October 2012-PA Sport

Heart of Midlothian is subject to a Scottish Premier League transfer embargo after failing to pay its players on time, it has emerged.

Six Hearts players and manager John McGlynn did not receive their salaries on schedule for a second successive month, Press Association Sport understands.

The September breach and new financial controls triggered an automatic ban on registering new players.

It means forward Rudi Skacel, who is training with the club he left for a second time in May, will at present be unable to sign for Hearts if he is offered a deal.

The SPL board is scheduled to meet on Monday, with the situation at Tynecastle on the agenda.

The SPL has been informed verbally of the delay to October's salaries, with regulations dictating Hearts have 48 hours to inform the league of the breach in writing.

September's salaries were received four days late as an issue which overshadowed last season resurfaced.

It is understood the Hearts players affected - the club's higher earners - are prepared to wait once again, hoping for a swift resolution, particularly as the issue has already been raised with the SPL.
